Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 pound (450g) spaghetti
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions:
- Step 1: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Step 2: Add chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, and chopped celery to the skillet. Sauté until vegetables are softened.
- Step 3: Pour in crushed tomatoes, red wine (if using), tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Step 4: Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Step 5: In the last 10 minutes of simmering, stir in the whole milk. Adjust seasoning if needed.
- Step 6: While the sauce simmers, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Step 7: Serve the Bolognese sauce over cooked spaghetti, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese.
