Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 pound (450g) spaghetti
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions:

  1. Step 1: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Step 2: Add chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, and chopped celery to the skillet. Sauté until vegetables are softened.
  3. Step 3: Pour in crushed tomatoes, red wine (if using), tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. Step 4: Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Step 5: In the last 10 minutes of simmering, stir in the whole milk. Adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Step 6: While the sauce simmers, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  7. Step 7: Serve the Bolognese sauce over cooked spaghetti, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese.
