Exotic Delight: Chicken Tikka Masala
Ingredients:
- 1.5 pounds (680g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 3 tablespoons tikka masala spice blend
- 1 tablespoon ground turmeric
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon ground coriander
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Chopped fresh cilantro for garnish
- Cooked basmati rice for serving
Instructions:
- Step 1: In a bowl, combine yogurt, tikka masala spice blend, turmeric, cumin, coriander, paprika, ginger, garlic, salt, and pepper. Add chicken pieces, coat evenly, and marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- Step 2: In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Step 3: Add marinated chicken to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides.
- Step 4: Pour in crushed tomatoes and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Step 5: Stir in heavy cream, reduce heat to low, and let it simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
- Step 6: Adjust seasoning if needed. Serve the Chicken Tikka Masala over cooked basmati rice, garnished with chopped cilantro.
